Clients may be aware of the recent headlines in the news. A fire has broken out at the OVH Datacentre at Strasbourg, East France. OVH is one of Europe’s largest Database Centres. Thankfully, everyone had been evacuated safely and nobody was hurt during these times.
Although the Bumble Print Servers are located in France, I can confirm this location is not one where our servers are situated. Meaning our clients’ data is safe and protected as normal.
OVH which is one of Europe’s largest Database Centres has since issued a statement to inform hosts to activate their disaster recovery plans. (We have this setup on our Servers should something similar occur in the future).
You can read the statement by CEO Octave Klabe below:
“We are currently facing a major incident in our DataCenter of Strasbourg with a fire declared in the building SBG2. Firefighters were immediately on the scene but could not control the fire in SBG2. The whole site has been isolated, which impacts all our services on SBG1, SBG2, SBG3 and SBG4.”
This incident has caused disruptions across the world. Cryptocurrency exchange Deribit has announced their blog was down, but trading is unaffected. News outlet eeNews Europe has also announced their websites have been affected.
We would like to remind all clients; Past, Future and Present that Bumble Print takes your data and websites seriously.
We take regular backups of the server and make sure a disaster recovery plan is always in place. For extra peace of mind we also offer a WordPress Support Plan which includes further Backups of your Website Files, Website Protection, Uploading of blog posts, images and text, Alterations of the Main Menu and General / Direct Support. This costs £15 per month and is highly recommended to all.
If you do not host with us, we recommend checking with your website host to see what plan is in place should something like this occur.
